Wake Robin (Trillium grandiflorum)

This is a superb woodland plant, found in forests across the eastern USA and Canada. It is extremely hardy, but when small it can be susceptible to slugs. They often attack the base of the stem, ‘felling’ the plant and killing the shoot. Once you have nurtured it to a decent-size clump it will shrug off a few slugs!

It likes a shady spot with plenty of organic material in the soil. If you get it right it is a really stunning flower.

There are many other Trilliums you can grow, all hardy, some with red or pink flowers, but I trhink that this is the best!
